As a leading Government Agency in land development, SALCRA's main objective is to raise the long term productivity and optimum utilization of Native Customary Rights (NCR) land by developing and managing the development of such land which are hitherto under-utilized, unutilized or underdeveloped into socially and economically viable plantation. Some of the benefits of participating in SALRCA's projects are:

  1. ISSUANCE OF LAND TITLES...Upland Issuance
The issuance of Land Titles is not only in compliance with SALCRA Ordinance 1976, but also to further enhance the rights of the landowners over their NCR land upon development.
  2. PAYMENT OF DIVIDEND...
SALCRA’s long term economic success as an enterprise is closely linked to the well-being of the communities where it operates. To date, we have paid more than RM500 Million in dividends to our participating landowners.
  3. OPPORTUNITIES FOR EMPLOYMENT
Qualified participants or their children are given preferences in filling job vacancies, although it is not SALCRA’s policy to recruit only project participants as permanent staff. The participants may be hired to work in the estates.
  4. ENTREPRENEURSHIP
The development brought by SALCRA had opened up business opportunities and encouraged entrepreneurship among participants.
  5. Second UplandACCESSIBILITY TO INFRASTRUCTURES...
Participating villages in SALCRA’s project also enjoy the provision of infrastructural facilities. The most common are the construction of access roads to the villages, provision of gravity-feed water supply and other community projects.
  6. LOCAL INVOLVEMENT IN MANAGEMENT
The participants are represented in the management at the estate-level through the Estate Development Committee (JPLS).

It takes many decades of changing the mindset of the rural communities to accept change: moving from subsistence farming to commercial plantations.

Our experience has shown that the rate of development will be faster with the engagement of the Stakeholders; in particular the thousands of landowners who are participating in our projects.

All these can be achieved through a dedicated and efficient management coupled with good governance and strategic CSR practices.

SALCRA has strengthened its policies, reached out to its stakeholders, raised the bar on performance targets and broaden its exposure to the industry at large.
