12 February 2025, Lundu : In a strategic collaboration with the Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC), SALCRA recently hosted a distinguished study visit at the Stenggang Oil Palm Estate for the Atlantic Council Millennium Fellowship—a global leadership programme under the Atlantic Council.
The visit brought together 33 outstanding young leaders from across the globe, including representatives from the U.S. Vice President’s Office, the Mexican Senate, the U.S. Department of the Treasury, OpenAI, Google, JP Morgan, and the Wall Street Journal. This engagement provided a unique platform to present the Malaysian palm oil industry’s sustainability journey, highlighting its positive socio-economic impact, particularly in rural Sarawak.
A key feature of the visit was a presentation by SALCRA General Manager, Tuan Joseph Blandoi, who highlighted SALCRA’s ongoing commitment to sustainable palm oil development and shared key initiatives aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. He also showcased the vital role of oil palm development in driving inclusive economic growth and uplifting rural livelihoods, while safeguarding the environment for future generations.
The event was successfully coordinated under the leadership of Tuan Joseph Blandoi, together with his Management Team and senior officers, in collaboration with MPOC and M-FICORD. It served as a meaningful avenue to deepen cross-border connections, share strategic insights, and reinforce a shared vision for responsible and sustainable palm oil production.
This engagement reaffirmed the importance of global awareness and cooperation in embracing sustainable practices across the palm oil sector. By engaging with emerging global decision-makers, the study visit aimed to reshape narratives, foster greater understanding, and highlight the industry's role in balancing economic progress with environmental stewardship.
