SALCRA EXPLORES LIVESTOCK INDUSTRY AND COLLABORATIONS DURING JAKARTA WORKING VISIT

9 May 2023, Jakarta: During a fruitful working visit to Jakarta, SALCRA General Manager and Deputy General Manager were integral members of a high-level delegation led by YB Dato Sri Dr. Stephen Rundi Utom, Minister of Food Industry, Commodity, and Regional Development Sarawak (M-FICORD) and SALCRA Chairman. The visit aimed to study the livestock industry and food security initiatives, explore potential investments, foster collaborations in education and research, and gain insights into livestock biotechnology in Indonesia.

The delegation's first stop was at the prestigious Institute Pertanian Bogor (IPB) University, located in Kampus IPB Dramaga, Bogor. There, they held a productive meeting with the Rector, Vice Rector, and the Dean of the School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. The discussions focused on exploring potential collaborations in education, research, and veterinary field outsourcing.

Additionally, the delegation had the opportunity to tour the Animal Teaching Hospital, Vaccine and Biology Production Unit, and the Poultry Research Farm, witnessing first-hand the university's state-of-the-art facilities and cutting-edge research initiatives.

Continuing their quest for knowledge and collaboration, the delegation visited Balai Embrio Ternak, situated in Cijeruk. During a one-hour briefing and discussion session, the delegation delved into the fascinating world of embryo transfer technology, gaining insights into its application and potential benefits for the livestock industry. This exchange of ideas further solidified the delegation's understanding of the latest advancements in the field.

The delegation proceeded to Kantor Pusat Kementerian Pertanian, located in Pasar Minggu, Jakarta Selatan, to meet and discuss with the Director-General of Animal Husbandry and Animal Health. The discussions revolved around sharing best practices, exchanging knowledge, and exploring potential collaborations to strengthen the livestock industry in both Sarawak and Indonesia. The meeting fostered mutual understanding and laid the foundation for future cooperation in the field of animal husbandry and animal health.

Throughout the visit, SALCRA remained committed to its purpose of gaining valuable insights into the livestock industry, exploring investment opportunities with veterinary pharmaceutical companies, fostering collaborations with esteemed institutions like IPB University, and studying advancements in embryo transfer, artificial insemination, and livestock biotechnology. The delegation's engagement and active participation in discussions underscored their dedication to enhancing the livestock sector and promoting regional development.

This working visit to Jakarta marks a significant milestone in strengthening ties between SALCRA, Sarawak, and Indonesia. By leveraging shared knowledge, expertise, and resources, both countries aim to achieve greater advancements in the livestock industry, ensuring food security, and fostering sustainable agricultural practices. The fruitful discussions and interactions during the visit set the stage for long-term collaborations, paving the way for mutual growth and development in the field of livestock and agricultural sectors.
