
15 July 2024, Miri: SALCRA is a proud Gold Sponsor for the 16th National Seminar (NATSEM) held from 15 to 17 July 2024, organised by the Incorporated Society of Planters (ISP) at the Pullman Miri Waterfront. The Minister for Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development Sarawak (M-FICORD), YB Dato Dr. Stephen Rundi Utom represented the Premier of Sarawak, YAB Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg to officiate the Opening Ceremony of the 16th NATSEM.
The National Seminar is an annual event by the ISP, to provide platform for members in advancing planters' knowledge and fostering networking opportunities with global counterparts. Themed "Opportunities and Strategies for Profitability" this year, the Seminar shed light on key aspects crucial for enhancing the economic viability and sustainability of the oil palm industry. In line with the theme, the Minister echoed the importance of leveraging technology and innovation to adapt to climate change so that the agriculture sector can further advance and continue to support the economy.
The ISP was established in 1919 for the development and advancement of the professional interests of those involved directly and indirectly with the plantation industry.
Also present during the Official Opening Ceremony were the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Plantation and Commodities, Dato' Yusran Shah Mohd Yusof, the Permanent Secretary of the M-FICORD, Tuan Sirai Daha, and the General Manager of SALCRA, Tuan Joseph Blandoi.
