DEPUTY STATE SECRETARY SARAWAK (ECONOMIC PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT) VISITS LAPOM KCP

22 November 2025 | Sri Aman Division

SALCRA had the honour of hosting YBhg. Dato Sri Dr Muhammad Abdullah bin Haji Zaidel, Deputy State Secretary Sarawak (Economic Planning and Development), for an official working visit to the Lubok Antu Palm Oil Mill (LAPOM) and the Sustainable Waste Management Project - the Kernel Crushing Plant (KCP) earlier today.

Upon arrival, YBhg. Dato Sri Dr Muhammad Abdullah and his delegation were welcomed by the General Manager of SALCRA, YBhg. Datu Joseph Blandoi, together with Tuan Will Paul Bilun (Acting Deputy General Manager and Chief Operating Officer (Mills)), Mr Grover Peter Gani (Chief Operating Officer, SALCRA Jaya Sdn Bhd), Mr Gira Enggam (Mill Manager, LAPOM), and other senior officers.

The visit began with a special briefing on the progress of the Oil Palm–Based Animal Feed Project (P.29). Tuan Will presented key developments of the Kernel Crushing Plant, including its process flow, recent equipment upgrades and enhancements to the nutrient quality of Palm Kernel Expeller (PKE). Updates were also shared on Black Soldier Fly production and Napier cultivation—both essential in building upstream feed resource capacity. The delegation was further briefed on the proposed 100,000 MT/year Formulated Animal Feed Mill, a major downstream component of Project P.29 that will strengthen Sarawak’s long-term animal feed security and contribute to PCDS 2030 objectives in food security, circular economy initiatives and environmental sustainability.

Following the briefing, YBhg. Dato Sri Dr Muhammad Abdullah, accompanied by YBhg. Datu Joseph, visited the Kernel Crushing Plant (KCP) and the Methane Trapping Plant (MTP) for an on-site overview of operations and sustainability-driven facilities.

Also present were YBhg. Datu Lester Matthew (Director, Economic Planning Unit Sarawak), YBhg. Datu Jack Anak Liam (Controller, NREB) and Ts. Dr. Nurleyna bt Yunus (Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Energy and Environmental Sustainability).

Warm appreciation is extended to the Corporate Mills Office, SALCRA Jaya Sdn. Bhd. (SJSB) and the LAPOM team for their dedicated coordination and support throughout the visit.
