RESPONDING TO EMERGING TAX CHALLENGES WITH STRATEGIC READINESS

19 November 2025 | Riverside Majestic Hotel, Kuching

We are pleased to share that SALCRA had the honour of participating in the Tax, Digital & AI Symposium 2025, organised by the State Financial Secretary Office in collaboration with Ernst & Young Malaysia. The symposium brought together State Statutory Bodies, Government-Linked Companies, and industry partners to exchange insights on Malaysia’s latest tax developments and the growing role of digitalisation in enhancing compliance and operational efficiency.

During the panel discussion session Tax Symposium, the General Manager, YBhg. Datu Joseph Blandoi, emphasised that emerging tax requirements, including mandatory e-invoicing, service tax adjustments, capital gains tax on unlisted shares, and indirect implications from the global minimum tax (Pillar Two)—matter to SALCRA in the palm oil industry.

To strengthen this readiness, Datu Joseph shared SALCRA’s strategic initiatives to prepare for a more digital and data-driven approach to tax management. These include e-invoicing automation, automated self-billing for smallholders, measures to enhance data consistency, and the exploration of Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and predictive analytics dashboards for early risk detection and monitoring.

Recognising that tax transparency is strategic, not optional, SALCRA is focusing on improving the quality and reliability of tax-related data, strengthening system integration across ERP and e-invoicing platforms, and enhancing governance through well-defined processes and digital audit trails. SALCRA is also adopting analytics to identify potential risks and developing staff capabilities to meet evolving technological and compliance demands.

As compliance becomes more real-time, data-driven, and technology-focused, Datu Joseph reaffirmed SALCRA’s commitment to strengthening systems and processes while fulfilling statutory responsibilities. These initiatives form part of SALCRA’s broader digital adoption journey and align with PCDS 2030 - Digital Transformation agenda, supporting operational excellence and the well-being of the communities SALCRA serves.

Delegates from SALCRA and its subsidiary companies were also present at the Symposium, including Mr Addie Ngu Yii Ee (Financial Controller), Mr Peter Manjan (Chief Operating Officer, Sarawak Fertilizer Sdn. Bhd.), Mr Grover Peter Gani (Chief Operating Officer, SALCRA Jaya Sdn. Bhd.), Mr Heldie David (Head of IT Unit, GAQD), Madam Rimie Roland (Senior Accountant, FD), Madam Marieanne Henry (Accountant, FD), Madam Celine Grunsin (Executive, MCO), and Ms Valarie Law (Executive, SFSB).
