The Minister for Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development (M-FICORD) and Chairman of SALCRA, YB Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom, made his first working visit at Jagoi OPE Phase 6 and BAPOM on 8 February 2023.
SALCRA General Manager Tuan Joseph Blandoi accompanied him with the newly appointed Director of the Department of Agriculture Sarawak, Mr Dominic Chunggat, Deputy Permanent Secretary for M-FICORD, Mr Sirai Daha, and the SALCRA Management team.
The working visit was to syndicate the work updates, project milestones and business challenges at the oil palm estate and palm oil mill, and at the same time to discuss SALCRA's role in transforming the rural community's livelihood through land development as well as its business prospects of the estate and mill with the adoption of technology and potential collaboration with other industry players.
The visit began with an operational briefing by the Jagoi Oil Palm Estate Manager, Mr Henry Chom. The visit continued to BAPOM for a sharing session on the overview of BAPOM's business operations with Madam Penny Nyapay, the Mill Manager who also led the methane trapping plant tour.
Also present during the visit, Deputy Minister for Transportation (Riverine and Marine); Dato Henry Harry Jinep, Bau District Officer; Mr Constantine Gerald, Bau Palm Oil Mill Board Director; Datu Ik Pahon Anak Joik, Bau Palm Oil Mill Board Members; Dato Anthony Nogeh Gumbek and Mr John Nyigor.
