BAMBOO AND GAHARU

Background

  • Project was started in 2011
  • Location: Located at Agriculture Training Centre, Sg. Sebiew, in the Bintulu Division of Sarawak
  • Aims to collect and document the variety species of bamboo, gaharu (agarwood) and wild tree potentially for commercialisation

Species Collection

  • More than 20 species of bamboo 
  • 4 high grade gaharu (agarwood) species – Aquilaria crassna, Aquilaria microcarpa, Aquilaria subintegra, Aquilaria beccariana
  • Hardwood timber species – Eusideroxylon zwangeri, Shorea asp., Dryobalanops beccarii
  • Indigenous fruit trees – Elateriospermum tapos, Pentaspadon motley
