24 April 2025, Lundu : SALCRA had the pleasure of hosting 40 members of the Sarawak Tourist Guides Association at our Stenggang Oil Palm Estate, in collaboration with the Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC). This visit was a wonderful opportunity to showcase our commitment to sustainable palm oil production and its positive impact on environmental conservation and local communities in Sarawak. 

Highlights of the visit:

  • Insightful presentations on SALCRA’s sustainability efforts;
  • An informative briefing by MPOC on the health benefits and sustainability achievements of Malaysian palm oil; and
  • An engaging site visit to Stungkor Mini Oil Palm Estate, featuring a live demonstration of fresh fruit bunch (FFB) harvesting and evacuation—a real-time look at responsible plantation practices in action.

The delegates left with heartfelt appreciation and a deeper understanding of how sustainable palm oil is positively contributing to both Sarawak’s economic growth and its environmental future.

12 February 2025, Lundu : In a strategic collaboration with the Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC), SALCRA recently hosted a distinguished study visit at the Stenggang Oil Palm Estate for the Atlantic Council Millennium Fellowship—a global leadership programme under the Atlantic Council.

The visit brought together 33 outstanding young leaders from across the globe, including representatives from the U.S. Vice President’s Office, the Mexican Senate, the U.S. Department of the Treasury, OpenAI, Google, JP Morgan, and the Wall Street Journal. This engagement provided a unique platform to present the Malaysian palm oil industry’s sustainability journey, highlighting its positive socio-economic impact, particularly in rural Sarawak.

A key feature of the visit was a presentation by SALCRA General Manager, Tuan Joseph Blandoi, who highlighted SALCRA’s ongoing commitment to sustainable palm oil development and shared key initiatives aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. He also showcased the vital role of oil palm development in driving inclusive economic growth and uplifting rural livelihoods, while safeguarding the environment for future generations.

The event was successfully coordinated under the leadership of Tuan Joseph Blandoi, together with his Management Team and senior officers, in collaboration with MPOC and M-FICORD. It served as a meaningful avenue to deepen cross-border connections, share strategic insights, and reinforce a shared vision for responsible and sustainable palm oil production.

This engagement reaffirmed the importance of global awareness and cooperation in embracing sustainable practices across the palm oil sector. By engaging with emerging global decision-makers, the study visit aimed to reshape narratives, foster greater understanding, and highlight the industry's role in balancing economic progress with environmental stewardship.

3–7 February 2025, Saratok : In line with SALCRA’s ongoing commitment to operational excellence and continuous improvement, Deputy General Manager Mr. Sikin Sentok recently led a field visit to the Saratok region and Ulu Sungai Wak development area in Pakan. Aligned with SALCRA’s “Walk the Talk” approach, the visit was an opportunity to engage directly with field teams, gain firsthand insights, and reinforce a culture of continuous improvement and shared responsibility across operations.

Accompanied by Plantation Development Manager Mr. Jeffery Stephen Beti, Production Plantation Manager Mr. Bobby Sangai, and other senior officers, Mr. Sikin visited key operational sites to monitor progress and ensure the successful implementation of SALCRA’s land development projects.

Throughout the visit, Mr. Sikin encouraged staff to uphold high standards in estate management, emphasising the importance of effective supervision, adherence to operational best practices, and maintaining a clean and well-organised environment. These elements, he shared, reflect the pride and collective commitment that define SALCRA’s work on the ground.

The visit also provided an invaluable platform for open communication, where field staff were encouraged to share ideas, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.

This field engagement reaffirms SALCRA’s commitment to supporting and empowering its field teams—listening, learning, and working together towards achieving operational excellence and building a sustainable future for the communities we serve.

11 April 2025, Kota Samarahan: Sambutan ulang tahun ke-12 Polis Bantuan SALCRA yang diadakan di Wisma SALCRA hari ini meraikan dan menghargai peranan penting pasukan ini sebagai benteng utama dalam memastikan keselamatan aset, warga kerja serta komuniti di sekitar kawasan operasi SALCRA.

Majlis penuh penghargaan ini telah disempurnakan oleh Pengurus Besar SALCRA, Tuan Joseph Blandoi, yang dalam ucapannya merakamkan setinggi-tinggi penghargaan kepada seluruh 113 anggota Polis Bantuan – termasuk 40 anggota bertauliah sebagai Bodyguard – atas dedikasi dan keberanian mereka dalam melindungi kepentingan organisasi serta memastikan kesejahteraan warga dan komuniti.  Beliau turut menegaskan keberkesanan pendekatan tadbir urus keselamatan yang menyeluruh hasil kerjasama strategik antara Polis Bantuan, Unit Audit Dalaman dan Unit Integriti dalam membanteras salah laku dan menangani pelbagai ancaman, sama ada dari dalam mahupun luar. Mengambil kira cabaran keselamatan yang semakin kompleks dan berteraskan teknologi, beliau menyeru agar semua anggota terus memperkasa diri dengan kemahiran baharu serta memperluas jaringan kerjasama bersama kepimpinan komuniti bagi memperkukuh langkah pencegahan secara bersama.

Majlis turut diserikan dengan penyampaian lencana kenaikan pangkat kepada dua anggota terpilih dan persembahan seni mempertahankan diri yang menampilkan ketangkasan serta semangat juang tinggi dalam kalangan anggota Polis Bantuan SALCRA.  Setinggi-tinggi tahniah dan syabas diucapkan kepada seluruh anggota Polis Bantuan SALCRA atas 12 tahun khidmat cemerlang dalam memastikan operasi SALCRA sentiasa selamat, berintegriti dan berdaya tahan.

20 Mac 2025, Kota Samarahan: SALCRA terus memperkukuh komitmen dalam memastikan tadbir urus yang telus, bebas rasuah dan berintegriti tinggi. Baru-baru ini, Unit Integriti, Jabatan Direktorat telah berjaya menganjurkan Latihan Kesedaran ISO 37001:2016 - Anti-Bribery Management System (ABMS) bertempat di Dewan Persidangan, Wisma SALCRA.

Seramai 32 kakitangan daripada pelbagai jabatan telah terlibat secara aktif dalam sesi yang memberi penekanan terhadap prinsip utama ABMS, kepentingan pematuhan terhadap standard antarabangsa, dan langkah-langkah pencegahan rasuah dalam operasi harian.

Di SALCRA, kami TEGAS dan KONSISTEN melaksanakan Dasar “NO GIFT POLICY”, demi memastikan setiap keputusan yang dibuat bebas dari sebarang konflik kepentingan dan kekal telus. Tahniah kepada semua kakitangan SALCRA atas komitmen berterusan dalam menjadikan integriti sebagai budaya kerja kita!

15 - 17 January 2025, Lundu: The 7th edition of the AJPLS Conference, held in Bajo Training Centre, Lundu under the theme "SALCRA Maju Pemangkin Transformasi Luar Bandar," brought together around 400 participants from the Bau-Lundu, Serian, Sri Aman, Saratok, and Limbang regions. This dynamic event aimed to strengthen ties between SALCRA participants and management, promote excellence in land development, and provide crucial insights into oil palm plantation management while fostering collaboration across all sectors. Through various presentations and exhibitions, participants gained important knowledge, meanwhile, key players in the oil palm industry, government agencies, and institutions were able to share their expertise.

Throughout the conference, a diverse range of speakers shared their knowledge and expertise. With 14 thought-provoking topics discussed by 16 speakers, the conference covered some of the most pressing issues in the industry. Key topics included:

  1. Macro Perspective: Discussing global and national factors impacting the development of the plantation sector and rural communities.
  2. Integrity and Governance: Promoting transparent, responsible, and ethical management practices.
  3. Sustainability: Focusing on balancing development, income generation, conservation of natural resources, and community empowerment for long-term benefits.
  4. Technology and Manpower: Exploring the application of modern technology to improve operational efficiency and ensure effective plantation management.
  5. SALCRA Initiatives: Sharing the initiatives implemented by SALCRA to drive progress.

The conference not only provided a platform for sharing fresh ideas and tackling industry challenges but also opened doors for deeper collaboration between stakeholders. It focused on boosting management efficiency and building lasting partnerships, ensuring the long-term success and sustainability of the oil palm industry.

On the final day, the conference concluded with a ceremony led by SALCRA General Manager, Mr. Joseph Blandoi, attended by the management team and participants. The successful event underscored the importance of continuous improvement, collaboration, and innovation in driving land development and achieving sustainability in the oil palm sector.

7 January 2025, Kuching: Yang Berhormat  Dato’ Sri Dr. Stephen Rundi Utom, the Minister of Food Industry, Commodity, and Regional Development of Sarawak, who is also Chairman of SALCRA, attended a press conference at the Raia Conference Centre and Hotel in Kuching, where he witnessed the official handover of the Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) file. The file was handed over by Bapak Edy Simson Pardamean Sinurat, the representative of Perusahaan Terhad (PT) Wira Karitas, to the General Manager of SALCRA, Tuan Joseph Blandoi. This handover took place after YB Dato’ Sri Dr. Stephen Rundi Utom’s second visit to Indonesia with SALCRA delegation.

The visit emphasises the ongoing challenge that SALCRA faces in addressing the labor shortage at its oil palm plantations, which has become a significant issue for the industry. The shortage of workers in the plantations has impacted the efficiency and growth of the sector, particularly as demand for palm oil production increases. In response to this critical labor gap, the recruitment of Indonesian migrant workers has become an essential solution for ensuring that SALCRA's plantations remain productive and competitive.

During the press conference, YB Dato’ Sri Dr. Stephen Rundi Utom expressed his appreciation for the arrival of 65 Indonesian migrant workers, who are expected to support the operations at SALCRA's oil palm estates. He acknowledged that this collaboration with Indonesian workers is crucial in maintaining the sustainability and progress of the oil palm sector in Sarawak, especially as the local labor force struggles to meet the increasing demands of plantation work.

Also attending the press conference were key figures, including the Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Food Industry, Commodity, and Regional Development of Sarawak (M-FICORD), Encik Sayed Ismail Nasiruddin Dato’ Sri Wan Hashim; the General Manager of SALCRA, Tuan Joseph Blandoi; the Director of the Department of Veterinary Services Sarawak, Yang Berbahagia Datu Dr. Adrian Susin Ambud; the General Manager of the Sarawak Land Development Board (SLDB), Professor Dr. Harry Entebang; the General Manager of the Sarawak Rubber Industry Board (SARIB), Tuan Make Jiwan; the General Manager of the Sago and Nipah Development Board (SNDB), Tuan Haji Zaidell bin Haji Hussaini; and the Deputy General Manager of SALCRA, Tuan Sikin Sentok.

14 January 2025, Lundu: The opening ceremony of the AJPLS (Ahli Jawatankuasa Pembangunan Ladang SALCRA) Conference and SALCRA Appreciation Dinner 2025 recently took place at Bajo Training Centre drawing more than 1,000 participants. The attendees included AJPLS members, staff, subsidiaries, as well as senior officials from the Ministry of Food Industry, Commodity, and Rural Development of Sarawak (M-FICORD) and its associated agencies.

The event celebrated the achievements of SALCRA staff in 2024 and marked the official opening of the 7th edition of the AJPLS Conference. The conference was officially launched by the guest of honor, Yang Berhormat Dato’ Sri Dr. Stephen Rundi Utom, the Minister of Food Industry, Commodity, and Rural Development, as well as the Chairman of SALCRA.

A key highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Outstanding Service Award to 55 staff, in recognition of their exceptional contributions and dedication to SALCRA's mission and goals over the past year. The awards acknowledged staff members who demonstrated outstanding performance in various departments, setting a high standard for excellence and commitment to the organisation.

The event also recognised the top performers within SALCRA’s operations for 2024. The Sri Aman Region was named the Best Region for its outstanding achievements in plantation management and development. Kedup 2 Oil Palm Estate was awarded Best Estate for its remarkable contributions to the overall productivity and quality of oil palm production. In addition, Bau Palm Oil Mill Sdn. Bhd. (BAPOM) was recognized as the Best Palm Oil Mill within SALCRA, owing to its consistent excellence in mill operations and achieving superior results in efficiency and production.

These awards highlight the continuous improvement and commitment to excellence that drive SALCRA’s success in the oil palm industry, reinforcing the importance of teamwork and leadership across various regions and departments.

The ceremony was attended by numerous distinguished guests, including the Deputy Minister of Food Industry, Commodity, and Rural Development (Commodity and Rural Development), YB Datuk Martin Ben; Chairman of Saratok Palm Oil Mill Sdn. Bhd., Yang Berbahagia Datuk Robert Lawson Chuat; Chairman of Bau Palm Oil Mill Sdn. Bhd., Yang Berbahagia Datu Ik Pahon Anak Joyik; Permanent Secretary of M-FICORD, Yang Berbahagia Datu Sirai Anak Daha; Chairman of Serian Palm Oil Mill Sdn. Bhd., YB Tuan John Ilus; and Chairman of Sarawak Fertilizer Sdn. Bhd., Professor Dr. Tonga Anak Noweg.

The evening was a testament to the hard work, dedication, and teamwork within SALCRA, as well as its commitment to enhancing the oil palm industry in Sarawak.
