SALCRA continued to reinforce governance and institutional accountability through the implementation of its Legal Talk Series, attended by 127 staff from various operating units.

The session was facilitated by Miss Angela Jinget, Senior Legal Officer from the Legal & Secretarial Services Department, and provided an overview of the legal framework governing SALCRA’s operations. The programme covered key legislation, including the SALCRA Ordinance 1976, the Sarawak Land Code, and relevant Federal laws applicable to SALCRA as a statutory authority.

The initiative supported a consistent understanding of SALCRA’s statutory mandate in land development and agricultural advancement, and reinforced the importance of legal compliance, transparency and respect for Native Customary Rights (NCR) across operational functions.

This programme forms part of SALCRA’s ongoing efforts to strengthen governance practices, enhance institutional accountability, and ensure that operations are carried out in accordance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

SALCRA marked a delighted festive milestone with its inaugural Pre-Christmas Dinner, organised by Kelab Rekreasi SALCRA (KRES). The evening brought together Management, staff, spouses, and AJPLS members from across operating units in a heartfelt celebration of unity, appreciation, and togetherness. In his Amanat, the General Manager, YBhg. Datu Joseph Blandoi shared that the evening was a meaningful expression of gratitude for SALCRA’s people, who remain the heart and driving force of the organisation’s journey. He congratulated KRES for its dedication in organising meaningful initiatives throughout the year, culminating in a well-coordinated programme that beautifully wove together festive fellowship, recognition of excellence, and appreciation of long service.

Datu Joseph reaffirmed SALCRA’s commitment to purposeful transformation aligned with the Sarawak Government’s policy direction for State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), with continued focus on productivity improvement, digitalisation, governance enhancement, and prudent financial management. He also shared a cultural framework centred on Respect, Responsibility, and Results-oriented, to be embraced in complement to the Sarawak Government’s 3R principles — Revisit, Rethink, and Recharge. Continuous learning and professional development were highlighted as vital enablers in strengthening long-term resilience, sustainability, and shared prosperity.

In conclusion, Datu Joseph congratulated all Anugerah Perkhidmatan Cemerlang and Long Service Award recipients for their dedication and consistent performance, and expressed his sincere appreciation to all staff for their service and continued trust in SALCRA. He encouraged everyone to move forward with renewed energy, stronger teamwork, and confidence in shaping the journey ahead—together.

The evening continued with the presentation of the Anugerah Perkhidmatan Cemerlang (APC) and Long Service Awards, recognising recipients through Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Ruby milestones, and was further complemented by festive Pre-Christmas performances by operating units and subsidiary companies, celebrating unity, creativity, and shared joy within the SALCRA family.

Appreciation is extended to all award recipients and everyone who contributed to the successful coordination of the evening, with special appreciation to the Bajo Training Centre team for their collective effort, flexibility, and spirit of cooperation.

Together as one SALCRA family, we celebrate our achievements and move forward on a productive and purposeful journey ahead.

SALCRA HEALTH RUN SERIES 2/2025

Nearly 400 participants, comprising staff, spouses, and AJPLS members, gathered this morning for the SALCRA Health Run Series 2/2025, which featured seven (7) categories. The event reflected SALCRA’s continued commitment to promoting wellness, inclusivity, and teamwork across the organisation.

The flag-off ceremony was officiated by YBhg. Datu Joseph Blandoi, General Manager, in the presence of the Deputy General Manager, Mr Sikin Sentok, together with members of the Management Committee.

In his address, Datu Joseph highlighted two (2) key points. First, in preparation for the 50th Anniversary in 2026, a structured calendar of monthly programmes will be rolled out, encompassing stakeholder engagement initiatives, corporate social responsibility activities, and community-based programmes across all regions. Active participation at all levels will be vital to the success of this significant milestone.

Secondly, while production remains a core priority, emphasis will also be placed on strengthening organisational presence and culture through staff engagement, visibility, and recreational initiatives. Regions, staff, and committees were encouraged to take ownership in initiating programmes that support a balanced, sustainable, and people-centred approach alongside operational excellence.

This was followed by the prize presentation ceremony recognising participants’ achievements and sportsmanship.

The event concluded with the symbolic handover of the Health Run baton from the Bau/Lundu Region to the Saratok Region witnessed by the General Manager and Deputy General Manager, officially designating Saratok as the host for the next series.

Congratulations to all participants and winners, and sincere appreciation to the organising committee, particularly Madam Maureen Tamin, Chairperson of KRES, with Mr Nelson Janen as Coordinator, as well as the volunteers and all parties who contributed to the successful organisation of this event.

Together, SALCRA continues to nurture a healthy, engaged, and collaborative workforce, strengthening organisational culture through purposeful and inclusive programmes.

The December Assembly was held on 5 December 2025, building on the direction set during the previous session on 9 June and reinforcing organisational alignment as the team moves towards a pivotal year. The session commenced with the National and State Anthems, SALCRA Maju, and a prayer.

A special note of appreciation was extended to Madam Evelyn Ajang, Senior Management Accountant, for her insightful presentation during the Staff Sharing segment on the KPI Quadrant Report. Her presentation provided a clear overview of this performance monitoring tool, which tracks the progress of Operating Units (OPUs) in achieving their operational objectives. Beyond performance measurement, the report fosters team spirit and accountability, aligning individual and unit contributions with the strategic goals of the organisation.

The General Manager, YBhg. Datu Joseph Blandoi, during his address, warmly welcomed Tuan Sikin Sentok, Deputy General Manager, who recently completed the Cambridge Advanced Leadership Programme at the University of Cambridge.

Datu Joseph outlined the organisation’s focus areas for 2026, aligned with the Government Transformation Programme. Key priorities include reinforcing the core business for sustainable operations; enhancing the distinction between regulatory and operational functions to strengthen governance; establishing a dedicated unit to explore long-term business funding opportunities; and driving innovation across business models, including accelerating performance from subsidiary companies. He also emphasised the importance of knowledge sharing, particularly through the expansion of in-house learning sessions by HR, to enhance operational efficiency.

Datu Joseph further acknowledged the IT Unit’s dedication and commitment in securing recognition for the organisation as one of the Top 5 Data Trustee Agency Working Groups at the SCSDU Digital Excellence Awards 2025 on 4 December 2025. This achievement reflects the steady progress of SALCRA’s teams in digital enablement and reinforces confidence in ongoing digital transformation initiatives under PCDS 2030. He encouraged the IT team to continue exploring and adopting digital tools to enhance workplace efficiency.

With the 50th Anniversary approaching in 2026, Datu Joseph encouraged all staff to actively contribute to preparations for this significant milestone, honouring the organisation’s history, achievements, and aspirations. He also highlighted participation in KRES activities, MAKSAK programmes, and other engagement initiatives as essential to staff wellbeing and organisational cohesion.

As the year draws to a close, Datu Joseph expressed sincere appreciation for staff professionalism, perseverance, and commitment. He emphasised that truthful communication is fundamental to upholding professionalism and mutual respect in the workplace, and encouraged everyone to continue contributing ideas, reinforcing a culture of collaboration and shared purpose. Together, the organisation builds on its momentum and embraces the opportunities that 2026 will bring.

SALCRA is honoured to be recognised as one of the Top 5 Data Trustee Agency Working Group at the SCSDU Digital Excellence Awards 2025, held in conjunction with SCS Cybersecurity Week 2025 at the Waterfront Hotel, Kuching.

The award was presented to YBhg. Datu Joseph Blandoi, General Manager, by YBhg. Dato Sri Dr. Muhammad Abdullah Bin Haji Zaidel, Deputy State Secretary (Economic Planning and Development), representing YB Datuk Amar Haji Mohamad Abu Bakar Bin Marzuki, Sarawak State Secretary, together with YBhg. Datu Grace Huong Siew Hung, Director of SCSDU. This recognition reflects SALCRA’s continued commitment to strengthening data governance and building data proficiency through active SDMS adoption, improved data quality, and the promotion of a culture of responsible data sharing across the agency.

This achievement was made possible through the dedication of the SALCRA Data Management Working Group, as well as all contributors who supported data-related initiatives. Their collective efforts enabled this meaningful milestone.

SALCRA remains committed to advancing its digital adoption journey in alignment with PCDS 2030, driving operational excellence and supporting the well-being of the communities we serve.

SALCRA held a special briefing session to receive newly appointed Board Directors YB Datuk Gerawat Gala, YB Encik Friday Anak Belik, and YB Encik Anyi Jana.  Chaired by the General Manager, YBhg. Datu Joseph Blandoi, the session outlined SALCRA’s mandate, development model and management policy, operational priorities, financial standing, projects under the 12th Malaysia Plan, as well as key challenges and the way forward. SALCRA records its appreciation to the Board Members for the views shared during the session, which supported effective engagement and enhanced mutual understanding on matters relating to the organisation’s mandate and priorities.  Members of the Management Committee were present, together with the Internal Audit Manager and the Plantation Advisor, to support a coordinated and organisation-wide briefing.

Aksi futsal SALCRA kembali menghangatkan Stadium Tertutup Serian. Selepas penganjuran futsal kategori lelaki yang berlangsung dengan penuh semangat persaingan pada 24 Oktober 2025, KRES meneruskan siri penganjuran melalui Kejohanan Futsal Piala Pengurus Besar SALCRA (Kategori Wanita) pada 21 November 2025 di lokasi yang sama. Lima pasukan dari pelbagai wilayah dan unit SALCRA menyertai kejohanan ini, mewujudkan suasana pertandingan yang menggalakkan kecergasan, disiplin dan kerjasama berpasukan dalam kalangan warga kerja.

Pengerusi KRES, Puan Maureen Tamin, merasmikan kejohanan dengan ucapan penuh semangat yang mengalu-alukan komitmen semua pasukan serta meraikan semangat kesukanan yang menyatukan dan menggerakkan pasukan kerja ke arah kecemerlangan. Kejohanan bermula sejurus selepas tendangan pembukaan oleh Encik Siang Mandaw, Pemangku Pengurus Pengeluaran Perladangan.

Saingan kategori wanita menyaksikan rentak permainan yang menarik sepanjang hari, dengan pasukan Wilayah Serian layak sebagai Johan, diikuti pasukan Wilayah Sri Aman sebagai Naib Johan, manakala pasukan Ibu Pejabat menamatkan saingan di tempat ketiga. Pasukan dari Wilayah Bau/Lundu serta anak syarikat SALCRA turut menunjukkan komitmen dan daya saing, melengkapkan penganjuran dengan penyertaan yang bermakna bagi semua pihak.

Dalam Majlis Penangguhan, YBhg. Datu Joseph Blandoi, Pengurus Besar SALCRA, menyeru agar aktiviti sukan terus diperkasakan sebagai usaha memperkukuh semangat kekitaan dan meningkatkan kesejahteraan di tempat kerja. Datu Joseph turut menghargai usaha semua pasukan serta mengucapkan tahniah atas komitmen yang ditunjukkan sepanjang kejohanan.

Walaupun kepenatan selepas perlawanan sengit jelas kelihatan, para peserta kekal bersemangat dan menutup kejohanan dalam suasana penuh kepuasan dan kegembiraan. Tahniah kepada semua pasukan atas penyertaan yang cemerlang dan komitmen berterusan sepanjang penganjuran ini.

Turut menyerikan kejohanan ialah barisan Pengurusan SALCRA, Pengurus Wilayah Serian, Pengurus Kilang (SEPOM) serta para penyokong yang hadir memberikan sokongan sepanjang pertandingan.

Setinggi-tinggi penghargaan dirakamkan kepada pasukan penganjur atas penyelarasan yang tersusun dan penganjuran yang berjaya.

SALCRA had the honour of hosting YBhg. Dato Sri Dr Muhammad Abdullah bin Haji Zaidel, Deputy State Secretary Sarawak (Economic Planning and Development), for an official working visit to the Lubok Antu Palm Oil Mill (LAPOM) and the Sustainable Waste Management Project - the Kernel Crushing Plant (KCP) earlier today.

Upon arrival, YBhg. Dato Sri Dr Muhammad Abdullah and his delegation were welcomed by the General Manager of SALCRA, YBhg. Datu Joseph Blandoi, together with Tuan Will Paul Bilun (Acting Deputy General Manager and Chief Operating Officer (Mills)), Mr Grover Peter Gani (Chief Operating Officer, SALCRA Jaya Sdn Bhd), Mr Gira Enggam (Mill Manager, LAPOM), and other senior officers.

The visit began with a special briefing on the progress of the Oil Palm–Based Animal Feed Project (P.29). Tuan Will presented key developments of the Kernel Crushing Plant, including its process flow, recent equipment upgrades and enhancements to the nutrient quality of Palm Kernel Expeller (PKE). Updates were also shared on Black Soldier Fly production and Napier cultivation—both essential in building upstream feed resource capacity. The delegation was further briefed on the proposed 100,000 MT/year Formulated Animal Feed Mill, a major downstream component of Project P.29 that will strengthen Sarawak’s long-term animal feed security and contribute to PCDS 2030 objectives in food security, circular economy initiatives and environmental sustainability.

Following the briefing, YBhg. Dato Sri Dr Muhammad Abdullah, accompanied by YBhg. Datu Joseph, visited the Kernel Crushing Plant (KCP) and the Methane Trapping Plant (MTP) for an on-site overview of operations and sustainability-driven facilities.

Also present were YBhg. Datu Lester Matthew (Director, Economic Planning Unit Sarawak), YBhg. Datu Jack Anak Liam (Controller, NREB) and Ts. Dr. Nurleyna bt Yunus (Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Energy and Environmental Sustainability).

Warm appreciation is extended to the Corporate Mills Office, SALCRA Jaya Sdn. Bhd. (SJSB) and the LAPOM team for their dedicated coordination and support throughout the visit.

19 November 2025 | Lemanak Oil Palm Estate & Lubok Antu Palm Oil Mill (LAPOM)

SALCRA recently welcomed six undergraduate students from Tohoku Gakuin University, Japan, led by Associate Professor Dr Sakuma Kyoko, for an educational visit designed to provide first-hand exposure to Sarawak’s palm oil industry.

The students participated in a series of structured learning activities covering both plantation and milling operations. At Lemanak Oil Palm Estate, they gained practical experience in Fresh Fruit Bunch (FFB) harvesting, collection and supervised loading using a mini crawler. This was followed by a guided tour of key processing operations at LAPOM. An interactive session, comprising overview briefings and field visits led by the Estate Manager and Mill Engineer, further enhanced their understanding of SALCRA’s operational standards, sustainability practices and contributions to rural communities.

Before departing for Mulu the next day, Dr Sakuma Kyoko expressed her appreciation for SALCRA’s warm hospitality. She noted that the visit provided a comprehensive overview of SALCRA’s operational framework and deepened the students’ understanding of its strategic role in advancing rural community development through sustainable and responsible palm oil practices. She also shared that the visit offered a meaningful introduction to Sarawak’s natural landscape and cultural heritage, enriching the overall learning experience.

Special appreciation is extended to the General Administration and Quality Manager, Madam Jee Siaw Kee; the Area Manager of the Sri Aman Region, Mr Charlemagne Joanes Jose; the Mill Manager of LAPOM, Mr Gira Enggam; and the Senior Sustainability Officer, Madam Patricia Chan, for their presence and support throughout the programme. Appreciation also goes to the dedicated teams from Lemanak OPE, LAPOM and the Corporate Communication Unit for ensuring that the visit was well-organised, informative and productive.

Looking ahead, SALCRA will continue to welcome both local and international students, supporting hands-on learning experiences, strengthening knowledge exchange and showcasing its commitment to sustainable practices, economic development and rural community empowerment.

We are pleased to share that SALCRA had the honour of participating in the Tax, Digital & AI Symposium 2025, organised by the State Financial Secretary Office in collaboration with Ernst & Young Malaysia. The symposium brought together State Statutory Bodies, Government-Linked Companies, and industry partners to exchange insights on Malaysia’s latest tax developments and the growing role of digitalisation in enhancing compliance and operational efficiency.

During the panel discussion session Tax Symposium, the General Manager, YBhg. Datu Joseph Blandoi, emphasised that emerging tax requirements, including mandatory e-invoicing, service tax adjustments, capital gains tax on unlisted shares, and indirect implications from the global minimum tax (Pillar Two)—matter to SALCRA in the palm oil industry.

To strengthen this readiness, Datu Joseph shared SALCRA’s strategic initiatives to prepare for a more digital and data-driven approach to tax management. These include e-invoicing automation, automated self-billing for smallholders, measures to enhance data consistency, and the exploration of Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and predictive analytics dashboards for early risk detection and monitoring.

Recognising that tax transparency is strategic, not optional, SALCRA is focusing on improving the quality and reliability of tax-related data, strengthening system integration across ERP and e-invoicing platforms, and enhancing governance through well-defined processes and digital audit trails. SALCRA is also adopting analytics to identify potential risks and developing staff capabilities to meet evolving technological and compliance demands.

As compliance becomes more real-time, data-driven, and technology-focused, Datu Joseph reaffirmed SALCRA’s commitment to strengthening systems and processes while fulfilling statutory responsibilities. These initiatives form part of SALCRA’s broader digital adoption journey and align with PCDS 2030 - Digital Transformation agenda, supporting operational excellence and the well-being of the communities SALCRA serves.
