27 October 2023, Kuching: SALCRA ICC Team 2023, Le Penseur (LAPOM 2) represented the Ministry of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development Sarawak (M-FICORD) to compete in this year's Sarawak Civil Service Innovation Convention Award (SCSICA).

This marks SALCRA's first-ever participation in the Convention, a significant milestone that wouldn't have been possible without the full encouragement and steadfast determination of General Manager Tuan Joseph Blandoi.

In recognition of Le Penseur’s project that emphasised on turning Waste into Cash titled “Mesocarp Fibre Management”, the team received a three-star recognition from the event organisers.

Kudos to the team, Le Penseur, for your dedication and hard work! Keep pushing the boundaries, seeking innovative solutions and together we can reach to new heights!

21 Oktober 2023, Kota Samarahan: Kumpulan badminton SALCRA mempamerkan aksi cemerlang dalam Piala Pengarah Integrated Agricultural Development Area (IADA) sempena Hari Sukan Negara 2023 yang telah diadakan pada 20 dan 21 Oktober 2023 bertempat di Dewan IADA, Kota Samarahan, Sarawak.

Dalam kejohanan tersebut, terdapat dua (2) pasangan beregu wanita SALCRA telah dinobatkan sebagai Juara dan Tempat Ketiga bagi acara badminton beregu wanita. Pada masa yang sama, pasukan badminton lelaki SALCRA juga berjaya meraih Tempat Ketiga untuk acara bepasukan lelaki.

Sekalung tahniah dan syabas kepada seluruh anggota SALCRA yang terlibat dalam kejohanan tersebut.

21 Oktober 2023, Kuala Lumpur: SALCRA turut serta dalam Lan Berambeh Anak Sarawak (LBAS) 2023 yang diadakan di Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) Kuala Lumpur, bersama Jabatan, Lembaga dan Agensi di bawah seliaan Kementerian Industri Makanan, Komoditi, dan Pembangunan Wilayah Sarawak (M-FICORD).

LBAS merupakan acara tahunan yang dianjurkan oleh Sarawak Volunteers dengan tujuan untuk memberi peluang kepada semua anak Sarawak yang melanjutkan pelajaran di Semenanjung Malaysia untuk mengadakan perbincangan dan interaksi bersama para pemimpin Kerajaan Negeri Sarawak.

Turut menghadiri majlis ini ialah Timbalan Perdana Menteri Malaysia YAB Dato' Sri Haji Fadillah bin Haji Yusof merangkap Pengerusi Pengelola LBAS 2023 dan Menteri Pembangunan Wanita, Keluarga dan Masyarakat YB Dato’ Sri Hajah Nancy binti Shukri serta rombongan peringkat tinggi dari Kerajaan Negeri Sarawak.

17 October 2023, Putrajaya: SALCRA joined the 9th National Geospatial Information Symposium (NGIS-9) on October 17th and 18th at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre. The symposium, organised by the National Geospatial Centre, aimed to promote the sharing of geospatial information and to discuss the latest issues in the field.

The theme of the 9th National Geospatial Information Symposium (NGIS-9) was “Geospatial Revolution in Digital Challenges.” The theme was chosen to reflect the rapid development of digital technology and its impact on geospatial information management across various sectors. The symposium aimed to promote excellence in geospatial information management and to have a positive impact on economic development. The symposium also addressed the challenges that arise from the advancement of digital technology, including those in the geospatial field.

Also participated in the NGIS-9 was Technical Services and Engineering Manager, Maureen Tamin.

9 October 2023, Lundu: SALCRA employees had the privilege to participate in an exclusive session with the Minister for Food Industry, Commodity, and Regional Development Sarawak, who is also the Chairman of SALCRA, YB Dato Sri Dr. Stephen Rundi Utom, held at Bajo Training Centre.

This Special Session marked as the official commencement of SALCRA's Lab on Moving Towards Circular Economy. The event began with an opening speech from General Manager Tuan Joseph Blandoi, followed by a keynote address delivered by YB Dato Sri Stephen Rundi Utom.

The insights shared during this session ignited a renewed sense of purpose and motivation among the employees, as SALCRA embarks on the journey toward implementing a circular economy approach in our core activities.

3 October 2023, Petaling Jaya: SALCRA participated in the first national conference on oil palm organised by the Malaysian Palm Oil Association (MPOA) on October 2nd and 3rd at the Sunway Resort Hotel. The conference, themed “Palm Progress: Future-proofing Competitiveness and Sustainability,” aimed to address the challenges and opportunities faced by the oil palm plantation industry in Malaysia.

The conference featured various presentations and panel discussions on topics such as taxation policies, worker recruitment and levies, mechanisation and replanting strategies, and the aging oil palm profile. The conference also tackled the issues of the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), social-environmental concerns, and the certification standards of the Roundtable Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) and the Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO).

The event was officiated by YAB Dato’ Sri Haji Fadillah bin Haji Yusof, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Plantation and Commodities, who launched the MPOA Responsible Recruitment Guideline for the recruitment of foreign workers. This guideline is a key component of the MPOA Responsible Employment Charter.

The notable presence of our General Manager and Deputy General Manager demonstrated our commitment to the future of the Malaysian palm oil industry.

25 September 2023, Kuching: SALCRA participated in the 1st Biosecurity, Smart Farming & Entrepreneurship For Food Security (BioSFE) 2023 which was held from 25 to 27 September 2023. 

Premier of Sarawak, The Right Honourable Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg officiated the opening of the 1st Biosecurity, Smart Farming & Entrepreneurship For Food Security (BioSFE) 2023 at Riverside Majestic Hotel Kuching.

This inaugural conference was co-organized by the Ministry of Food Industry, Commodity & Regional Development Sarawak (M-FICORD), UiTM and National Chung Cheng University Taiwan in conjunction with Sarawak Agrofest 2023.

Themed "Bridging Technologists and Entrepreneurs for Agriculture Revolution 4.0," BioSFE served as a platform for local and international participants, fostering knowledge sharing on food security, smart farming, and biotechnology in entrepreneurship. The event aimed to enhance national food security awareness, benefit local farmers through potential technology transfers, and provide valuable insights for future policymaking.

SALCRA was represented by Mr Grover Peter Gani, Chief Operating Officer SALCRA Jaya Sdn. Bhd.; Mr Raymond Britin, Business Development Manager; Mr Mac Shermon, Livestock Manager; Penny Jong Phai Lee, Research Officer and Laura Sarina, Business Development Officer.

Talented musicians Amis U, Desmond, and Akustik Baginda stole the spotlight with their music, leaving the audience spellbound.

The night also had a touch of excitement as the Guest of Honour generously rewarded some lucky members of the audience with prizes for correctly answering quizzes!

Sarawak Agrofest 2023 menyediakan peluang kepada pemegang-pemegang taruh pertanian untuk mewujudkan jaringan, padanan perniagaan dan kerjasama bagi memperkukuhkan lagi rantaian bekalan serta nilai produk pertanian.
